Tomato, Ginger, and Chocolate Chutney Canapés

Heart Shaped Cutter
Large pan with wide flat base and low sides
Plate to Serve

Ingredients

  • 300g Ginger bread

  • 1 Onion

  • 2 Garlic Cloves

  • 15g Butter

  • 1 Teaspoon of grated fresh ginger

  • 1 Teaspoon of ginger powder

  • 2 Teaspoon of Paprika

  • 3 Tomatoes

  • 2 Teaspoons of Caster Sugar

  • 1 Tablespoon Hotel Chocolat Cocoa Nib Balsamic Vinegar

  • 1 Tablespoon Macho Liquid Chocolat

  • 1 Tablespoon of vegetable oil

  • Salt and Pepper to season
Method
  1. Chop the onion and tomatoes into small pieces.

  2. Heat pan on a high heat and add the vegetable oil. When hot add cloves of garlic, chopped onion, grated fresh ginger, ginger powder, and paprika and sauté for 3 minutes.

  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and sugar lower heat and cook for 15minutes and reduce it down to a paste like consistency.

  4. Add the tablespoon of Macho Liquid Chocolat.

  5. Take off the heat and allow to cool.

  6. Slice Ginger bread and use the Heart shaped cutter to create heart shapes.

  7. Place ginger bread under grill on medium heat and grill until golden brown.

  8. Place a spoonful of the Chutney on each piece of the ginger bread.

  9. Season and serve.
