Real, authentic chocolate starts with real, authentic ingredients.
We may be stating the obvious here, but you really can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear. That’s why we’re famously pernickety about what goes into our chocolates.
For a start, we will not tolerate any ‘nasties’ like hydrogenated vegetable fat, artificial colourings and artificial fruit or alcohol flavourings.
Unfortunately, the more mass-produced a chocolate is, the more it falls prey to cost cutting – more sugar, less cocoa; industrialised vegetable fats instead of cocoa butter; artificial preservatives and fake flavourings. All of that makes for dull, cloying, sickly-tasting chocolates that leave us all hideously disappointed.
Our view is that to make truly superb chocolates you need to use the best, freshest and most wholesome ingredients. And that starts at the very beginning with a decent, honest cocoa content complete with the natural cocoa butter that gives chocolate its unique and meltingly smooth texture.
Our fruity chocolates contain real fruit and no artificial enhancers to boost the flavour. Our alcoholic chocolates contain authentic liqueurs, not cheap imitations or even worse, artificial imitations. After all, how are we going to blow your socks off using anything but the real thing?
