NEW in-store café & boutique launching April 10th 2008

Angus Thirlwell, Co-founder and MD of Hotel Chocolat gives an insight into the development of the concept café:

”We have recently been noticing a shift in consumer behaviour. Our customers are coming in store and spending longer and longer sampling products, browsing and discussing chocolate with our team and other chocolate enthusiasts. We wanted to be able to offer more to our customers than any other chocolate retailer in the UK and create something of a chocolate oasis for our consumers to enjoy. The concept café will hopefully respond to a growing consumer demand and will be something we can potentially roll out in more of our 27 Hotel Chocolat stores.”

Served in jugs with china cups and long handled spoons, there are 6 different flavours to indulge in:

• Macho – a great substitute for your daily cup of coffee, made with pure 100% cocoa solids.

• Classic – made with 72% dark cocoa for a heady chocolate hit.

• Milky – a mix of 50% & 72% cocoa for those who like their hot chocolate mellow.

• Aztec Chilli – following the original South American recipe, this is hot chocolate with a kick!

• Valencia Orange – the perfect combination of chocolate and orange.

• Kiss Mix – ‘a hug in a mug’ – this caramel blend is the perfect antidote to the stresses of life.

However the café offers more than simply Liquid Chocolat drinks, a range of unique chocolate dishes are also available:

• Madeleine Goes Swimming – a little vanilla cake on a pool of melted chocolate.

• Dipping Pot Duo – two bowls of melted chocolate served with, sliced banana, mini bread sticks and marshmallows.

• Chocolate Five Ways – a tasting plate of five chocolates.
