*VEGETARIANS & VEGANS
All our chocolates are suitable for vegetarians (unless specifically stated in very rare cases). Our dark chocolate is suitable for vegans, although it is made in the same environment as our milk chocolate, so we cannot guarantee it is free from traces of milk. Recommendations for vegans – dark chocolate from our Purist range, dark Batons, the dark section of The Selector display in-store.

**TREE NUTS, PEANUTS (GROUNDNUTS) & NUT ALLERGIES
Any products containing nuts are clearly labelled. As our chocolates are made in an environment where nuts are present we cannot say they are nut free. Recommendations for nut free recipes – avoid gianduja and praline, check allergen list carefully, solid bars of milk, dark and white chocolate will typically contain less allergens than filled chocolates.

***GLUTEN/WHEAT INTOLERANCE
We specifically state on our ingredients list where gluten has been included in the recipe. Low level traces of gluten may be present in other products as they are handled in the same environment as products with gluten in them. Recommendations for gluten free recipes – avoid any cookie or biscuit recipes and check allergen list carefully.

****MILK/LACTOSE INTOLERANCE
Any products containing milk in the recipe are clearly labelled. In our chocolate factory we handle both milk chocolate and dark chocolate, so we cannot guarantee that any recipes are free from low level traces of milk. Recommendations for lactose intolerance recipes: dark chocolate in our extensive Purist range, dark Batons, the Dark section in The Selector display in-store.

*****EGG, SOYA AND OTHER ALLERGENS
We occasionally use ingredients containing eggs, sesame or sulphites/ sulfites, but when we do it is clearly labelled on the ingredients as an allergen. However, we are not able to guarantee any recipe is free from low level traces of these allergens, as all recipes are made in the same factory. All our chocolates may contain traces of soya lecithin. This is an important natural emulsifier in chocolate that keeps it smooth and prevents the ingredients from separating.

DIABETIC
We consider the whole concept of so-called 'diabetic chocolate' highly questionable – a position supported by Diabetes UK. Modern medical advice recommends a healthy, balanced diet for diabetics, part of which can be good quality chocolate. For a fuller explanation of the 'diabetic chocolate' myth, please see the Diabetes UK website. Recommendations for diabetics: the best approach is to go for chocolate with intense cocoa flavours, which ensures that less needs to be consumed to achieve the all important cocoa satisfaction. Within our overall approach of 'Less Sugar More Cocoa', these products stand out as being our top recommendations: any solid dark chocolate (filled chocolates typically have more sugar and fat), the higher the cocoa content the better. Our 85% is surprisingly mellow and a best seller; our 'Dash of Milk' high cocoa milk chocolates and Intense Pralines in The Purist range; Super Boosters, little pieces of pure cocoa bean just tumbled in a thin layer of chocolate, the Nutty section in The Selector display in-store (nuts are a good blood sugar regulator).

CALORIES
Our approach to making chocolate is to always use the best ingredients and to use as little sugar and as much cocoa as possible. After all, an intensely flavoured chocolate means more cocoa satisfaction for a smaller amount and therefore fewer calories.

Here are some typical guidelines:
A single truffle: 61 calories
A single praline: 58 calories
A single liquid caramel: 60 (based on a 12g chocolate) calories
A 35g serving of dark chocolate: 191 calories
A 35g serving of milk chocolate: 200 calories
A 35g serving of white chocolate: 200 calories
A mug of Liquid Chocolat drinking chocolate made with
skimmed milk: 242 calories
