In the grand tasting room at the Poças family’s port house in old-town Porto, our chocolate experts met with Master Port Blender, Jorge, for a great taste-off – they were seeking the ultimate port to pair with our milk chocolate and this was the one. It’s Jorge’s Special Reserve Aged Tawny Port and it’s one of his best, drawing on four generations of expertise to blend, balance and then age in wooden casks for at least 6 years.
PAIRING WITH CHOCOLATE – allow a small piece of chocolate to melt in the mouth for a few seconds to release its flavours, then take a sip of port and let the two mingle in your mouth.
PORT TASTING NOTES – best enjoyed lightly chilled (15ºC). Rich and medium-bodied with smoky notes, dried fruit and orange peel flavours and hints of vanilla – perfect for the mellow cocoa notes of our milk chocolate.
